2024 Rohatsu Sesshin

Soto Zen Buddhists around the world come together in meditation each December to commemorate the Buddha’s enlightenment. This is called “Rohatsu,” meaning “the eighth day of the twelfth month” in Japanese.

We want everyone in the NZC community to have an opportunity to experience this special time of year, so we are offering a variety of options for both full and partial participation.

This formal retreat includes zazen, kinhin (walking meditation), services, dharma talks, formal and informal meals, dokusan (meetings with a teacher), and work practice.

Date: Wednesday, December 4 to Sunday, December 8
Location: Nebraska Zen Center
Registration Deadline: 12/1/2023

Registration Options:

In-person: $40/day for members, $50/day for non-members
Online: $25/day for members, $30/day for non-members

If you are unable to afford the full cost of the event, please contact us at heartlandtemple@nebraskazencenter.org to inquire about fee reductions or waivers.

As always, we encourage those who are able to donate an additional amount to help us keep retreats affordable for everyone.
