Rev. Nonin Chowaney, a dharma heir of Dainin Katagiri Roshi, was abbot of Nebraska Zen Center for over 25 years, from 1992 to 2016.
Tessho Michael D’Elia, one of Nonin’s students, has lovingly compiled Nonin’s essays, poetry, and art into a book called No Birth, No Death. The pieces in the collection were originally published in the Nebraska Monkey (1992–1996) and Prairie Wind (1996–2016) newsletters.
