Become a Member of Nebraska Zen Center

Our members are important! When you join now, you provide essential support for the Zen practice opportunities you value—zazen, study, retreats, and much more.

At NZC, we nurture a welcoming community that supports integrating Zen practice into the fabric of daily life. Our members make Nebraska Zen Center possible, and all are welcome.

Like most Zen centers, NZC is supported entirely by donations. By making a regular monthly membership contribution, you are investing in our continuing operation, supporting our long-term development, and making on-going programs possible.

How to Join

Becoming a member is easy! Simply click on the Join NZC button below to select a monthly donation amount, enter your contact information, and pay with PayPal.

Although we suggest a basic member pledge of between $30 and $100, all pledges are welcome—please choose an amount that feels right for you. We also have a special “Lend a Hand” category of $150 or more per month for bodhisattvas who are able to supplement donations from members whose funds are limited.

If you are unable to give a monetary donation, you can become a member by giving services instead. We need gardeners, cleaners, repair people, and IT and web support. Use your time and talents to help NZC thrive. Contact heartlandtemple@nebraskazencenter.org to find out how this alternative membership option works.

Membership Benefits

  • Voting rights—As a member, you have the right to participate in elections: you can make nominations and cast votes for the NZC Board of Directors. We welcome anyone and everyone into our sangha, but only members who make monthly pledges or establish a volunteer commitment have voting rights.
  • Opportunities to meet with a Practice Mentor—As a member, you have access to a senior student who can answer questions about practice, zendo forms, etc.
  • Discounts on programs —Members receive discounts on tuition and fees for most NZC programs, including study groups and retreats.
  • Library privileges—Members can borrow from our extensive collection of dharma books.
  • Member gatherings—Members get to participate in NZC’s annual MemberAppreciation Day.
  • The practice of generosity—The Sanskrit word for giving is dana, and it is a foundational aspect of Buddhism. Through giving, we can find an antidote to greed.

Nebraska Zen Center is dedicated to supporting everyone on the path to awakening. Please help us continue our efforts to provide authentic Zen Buddhist practice in the heartland by becoming a member today.
