Please join us for Shuso Closing Ceremony—also known as Hossen Shiki (Dharma Combat) Ceremony. This ceremony marks the end of Rev. Shinkyū’s term as shuso- or head monk.
This is an important step in his formation as a Zen teacher, and we hope you will all come to celebrate with us.
Shinkyū will answer questions from the sangha about the koan he’s been working with throughout his training:
Case #2 from the Blue Cliff Record, “The Ultimate Way is Without Difficulty.”
Any heartfelt question about practice is also appropriate for this occasion.
This ceremony will take place after zazen at Sunday Open Zen.
